Maker of Paxil Settles Some Lawsuits
Paxil is a drug that is in the class of SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors), and when taken during the first three months of pregnancy, may cause serious birth defects. Two potentially serious forms of birth complications that have been linked to Paxil are heart defects and PPHN (persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn).
